In His Words
With access to the Internet the general public will find medicine to be more of an art than a mystery. I feel that the Internet will make medical information easily accessible to all, which in turn will yield more educated patients. As such he (she) is better able to make informed decisions and will ultimately achieve more autonomy over their health care decisions. Consequently, a physician will find himself more apt to keep abreast of recent developments and be prepared to guide patients through the maze of choices. A physician can have bonafide consent only if he (she) is able to articulate medical issues in laymans terms, and that requires a good communicator. That is most satisfying aspect of my job; establishing a relationship and gaining the patients trust in a rather brief period before a procedure and to know that in the end I made a difference.
